The log furniture industry loves "call for a quote." We're going to fix that. These are real price ranges from Canadian makers and retailers, in Canadian dollars, based on publicly listed prices and direct inquiries.
Prices are for Canadian-made pieces from established makers. Imported mass-market "log style" pieces from Amazon or Wayfair can be 30โ50% less, but they're a different product โ often screw-assembled, sometimes not real log construction.
| Piece | Price Range (CAD) | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Queen log bed frame | $900 โ $1,600 | Standard range. Premium/custom can hit $2,500+ |
| King log bed frame | $1,100 โ $2,000 | Add 20โ30% over queen pricing |
| Log bunk bed | $1,400 โ $2,800 | Twin-over-twin. Twin-over-full costs more. |
| Log dresser (6-drawer) | $1,500 โ $1,850 | Heavy piece โ shipping is significant |
| Log nightstand | $350 โ $700 | Often sold in pairs for a discount |
| Log dining table (seats 6) | $1,200 โ $3,500 | Wide range based on species and slab style |
| Log bench (4-foot) | $400 โ $900 | Outdoor benches at lower end, indoor at higher |
| Log coffee table | $400 โ $1,200 | Live edge slabs push the top end higher |
| Log crib | $1,150 โ $1,400 | Must meet Canadian safety standards |
| Log lamp | $200 โ $325 | Table lamps. Floor lamps run $300โ$500 |
| Adirondack / Muskoka chair | $250 โ $600 | Cedar at top end. Recycled plastic "log look" at bottom |
Cedar costs more than pine โ typically 15โ25% more for the same piece. The premium is justified: cedar is lighter, more rot-resistant, and arguably better-looking. Beetle kill pine from BC commands a premium too, despite being dead wood, because the blue-stain patterns are unique and increasingly fashionable.
Mortise and tenon joinery takes longer to execute than screw-and-bolt assembly. The labour difference can add $200โ$500 to a large piece like a bed frame.
Worth it. A properly joined log bed outlasts a screwed one by decades.
Most Canadian makers will do custom sizing. Expect a 15โ30% premium over standard dimensions. Non-standard wood species requests (birch, aspen) also cost more because the maker may need to source outside their regular supply chain.
Unfinished pieces are cheapest. A basic oil finish adds $50โ$150.
Professional lacquer finishing can add $200โ$400 on large pieces. Use our finish selector to figure out what you actually need before paying for a finish you'll want to change later.
This is where sticker shock happens. Log furniture is heavy.
A queen bed frame ships at 150โ300 lbs. Most pieces travel by LTL freight โ not Canada Post or Purolator.
| Route | Estimated Freight Cost | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Within province | $100 โ $300 | Best case. Some makers offer free local delivery. |
| BC โ Alberta | $200 โ $400 | Canadian Log Furniture offers free shipping to Western Canada |
| Ontario โ Ontario (cottage country) | $150 โ $350 | Log Furniture and More: free over $500 |
| BC โ Ontario | $500 โ $1,000+ | Cross-country. This is where it hurts. |
| Anywhere โ remote/northern | $800 โ $2,000+ | Northern communities face extreme costs |
You can find "log beds" on Amazon.ca for $500โ$800. These are typically machine-made, often from overseas, assembled with screws and bolts. They look rustic in photos.
A Canadian-made log bed from a real maker starts around $900 and goes to $1,600 for a queen. That's $400โ$800 more. But consider:
The price gap is real, but the value gap is bigger.
Log furniture buying is seasonal. Spring is peak demand โ cottage owners outfitting for summer. Makers are busiest March through June.
If you can order in fall or winter, you'll often get shorter lead times and sometimes a small discount. Custom pieces can take 4โ8 weeks, so plan accordingly.
