Canadian Log Furniture Makers โ€” A Real Directory

Most "directories" online are just Amazon affiliate pages. This is a list of actual Canadian workshops that build log furniture by hand. We've verified each one has a working website or active business presence. No paid placements.

British Columbia

BC has the deepest bench of log furniture makers in Canada, thanks to abundant lodgepole pine, Douglas fir, and western red cedar. The beetle kill pine supply has also created a wave of makers working with blue-stain wood.

Canadian Log Furniture

๐Ÿ“ BC ยท canadianlogfurniture.ca

Full range โ€” beds, dining tables, outdoor sets, live edge, and epoxy work. Free shipping to BC, Alberta, and Saskatchewan.

10-year warranty on structural components. One of the few operations offering both traditional log and modern live-edge styles under one roof.

Marisa Enterprises

๐Ÿ“ Sooke, BC ยท marisaenterprises.com

Hand-crafted rustic log benches, patio sets, swings, and arbors. Vancouver Island operation with a focus on outdoor and garden furniture.

If you're on the island, you can visit the workshop. Their arbors and swings are particularly well-regarded.

Rustic Craft

๐Ÿ“ Canada (operating since 1975) ยท rusticcraft.ca

One of the longest-running log furniture operations in Canada. Traditional log chairs, beds, tables, and sofas using Canadian hardwoods and softwoods. Five decades of production gives them an edge on joinery โ€” these are people who've seen what holds up and what doesn't.

Alberta

Alberta's cabin and ranch culture drives strong demand. Most Alberta makers work with lodgepole pine, often sourced from the eastern slopes of the Rockies. Some bring in beetle kill pine from BC for the distinctive blue-stain look.

Twisted Log Ltd.

๐Ÿ“ Cochrane, AB ยท twistedlog.ca

Rustic log furniture and custom constructions. Cochrane is just outside Calgary, making pickup straightforward for southern Alberta buyers. They do custom work, which means you can spec dimensions for specific spaces โ€” important if you're fitting furniture into a cabin with non-standard room sizes.

Higher Ground Log Furnishings

๐Ÿ“ Near Edmonton, AB ยท hglogfurnishings.com

Lodgepole pine furniture, railings, and custom pieces. Northern Alberta base means shorter shipping runs to Edmonton, Fort McMurray, and Peace Country communities. They also build log railings and staircases, which can be matched to your furniture for a cohesive cabin interior.

Rustic Ranch Furniture

๐Ÿ“ Airdrie, AB ยท rusticranchfurniture.ca

Blends rustic, farmhouse, western, and log styles. If your aesthetic leans more ranch-house than deep-woods cabin, this is worth a look. Broader style range than pure log furniture shops.

Ontario

Ontario's cottage country โ€” Muskoka, Haliburton, Kawarthas, Georgian Bay โ€” is the biggest market for log furniture east of the Rockies. Most Ontario makers work with eastern white cedar, which grows abundantly in northern Ontario.

Log Furniture and More

๐Ÿ“ Dundalk, ON ยท logfurnitureandmore.ca

Arguably Canada's largest log furniture operation. Beds, bunk beds, dining sets, and โ€” unusually โ€” saunas, hot tubs, and cold plunges. White cedar focus.

Free shipping on orders over $500. Based in Grey County, central enough in Ontario that shipping to Muskoka, Haliburton, or the Kawarthas is reasonable.

Huron Log Furniture

๐Ÿ“ St. Joseph Island area, ON ยท huronlogfurniture.com

Family-owned, custom handcrafted cedar furniture. Logs sourced directly from St.

Joseph's Island in Lake Huron. There's something to be said for a maker who harvests their own timber from a specific place โ€” you know exactly what you're getting and where it grew.

Quebec & Maritimes

Less served by dedicated makers, but Quebec's chalet culture creates real demand. White cedar, spruce, and birch are the primary species in this region.

If you're in Quebec or the Maritimes, your best bets are either ordering from Ontario makers (Log Furniture and More ships east, though freight costs climb) or finding local craftspeople through cottage-country markets and word of mouth. The Laurentians and Eastern Townships have woodworkers doing log and timber furniture, but many operate below the radar โ€” no website, just local reputation.

A note on shipping: Log furniture is heavy. Brutally heavy. A queen bed frame can run 150โ€“300 lbs. Shipping from BC to Ontario can cost $500โ€“$1,000+ for a bedroom set. This is why buying from a maker in your province (or at least your region) isn't just about supporting local โ€” it's often the cheapest option by far. Read our shipping guide before you order from across the country.

What to Ask Any Maker Before You Buy

These five questions separate quality operations from the rest:

  1. Is the wood kiln-dried, and to what moisture content? You want 6โ€“8% for indoor furniture. If they can't answer this question specifically, that's a red flag.
  2. What joinery do you use on structural joints? Mortise and tenon is the standard for quality. Screws-only construction won't last.
  3. What's your warranty? Good makers stand behind their work. Canadian Log Furniture offers 10 years. If there's no warranty, ask why.
  4. What finish do you apply? This matters for long-term maintenance. Know what you're getting so you can care for it properly.
  5. What does shipping actually cost to my location? Get a real number, not "we'll figure it out." Include liftgate, inside delivery, and any rural surcharges.
